Chiamaka Nnadozie and Maduka Okoye end their European seasons with individual honours after impressive performances for Brighton and Udinese

Nigeria’s leading goalkeepers Chiamaka Nnadozie and Maduka Okoye have rounded off their European club campaigns with major individual recognition following impressive performances in England and Italy respectively.

Nnadozie enjoyed a standout debut season in the English Women’s Super League with Brighton & Hove Albion Women, where she was named in the Team of the Season by WhoScored.com.

The 25-year-old, who joined from Paris FC last summer, recorded six clean sheets in 19 league appearances as Brighton finished seventh in the standings. Her consistent displays saw her average a rating of 6.87, alongside 44 saves from inside the box and 18 from distance.

Her inclusion among the league’s best performers highlights her rapid adaptation to English football and her growing reputation as one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the division outside the traditional top clubs.

Nnadozie now turns her focus to the Women’s FA Cup final against Manchester City, where she will aim to crown her impressive campaign with silverware.

Okoye, meanwhile, also ended his season on a high in Italy after being named Udinese’s Player of the Month for May.

The 26-year-old re-established himself as first choice at the Serie A club, making 29 appearances and conceding 31 goals across the campaign. He also reached a personal milestone by becoming the first Nigerian goalkeeper since Vincent Enyeama in 2016 to record 10 or more clean sheets in one of Europe’s top five leagues.

His strong May performances included two clean sheets and several key saves, further cementing his importance to the Udinese side.

Despite a narrow defeat to Cremonese in one of their final fixtures, Okoye’s individual displays stood out, with a series of crucial stops in a busy outing.

Udinese still have one final match against Napoli, but the Nigerian shot-stopper has already been rewarded for what has been a breakthrough season.
