The 33-year-old centre-back joined Madrid from FC Bayern Munich in 2021 and went on to become part of one of the club’s most successful modern squads despite enduring a series of major injury setbacks that limited his appearances in recent seasons.

During his time at the club, Alaba won 11 trophies, including two UEFA Champions League titles and two La Liga crowns, while making 131 appearances in all competitions.

In a statement announcing the David Alaba Real Madrid exit, the Spanish giants paid tribute to the defender’s contribution and professionalism during his stay at the Santiago Bernabéu.

“Real Madrid wishes to express its gratitude and all its affection to a player who has been part of a team that has marked one of the most successful periods in our history,” the club stated.

Alaba is expected to bid farewell to supporters on Saturday during Madrid’s final league fixture of the season against Athletic Club. The occasion is also set to mark departures for right-back Dani Carvajal and coach Álvaro Arbeloa.

The Austrian international has yet to announce his next destination, although speculation over his future has intensified following confirmation of his exit.
