Super Falcons WAFCON 2026 preparations begin in Casablanca as Nigeria targets an 11th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have opened their training camp in Casablanca, Morocco, as the defending champions begin preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The squad, led by head coach Justine Madugu, is expected to begin full preparations on Monday, 13 July 2026, ahead of the continental tournament.

Madugu named a 25-player squad for the competition last Friday, with all selected players expected to report to camp as Nigeria begins its build-up for another title challenge.

The team will later relocate to Rabat, where their Group C matches will be played, as they prepare for a demanding first-round campaign against Malawi, Zambia and Egypt.

Nigeria will begin their tournament defence against the Scorchers of Malawi at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat on Tuesday, 28 August.

The Super Falcons head into the competition with the ambition of extending their dominance in African women’s football. Nigeria remains the most successful team in WAFCON history and will be seeking a record-extending 11th title in Morocco.

The tournament provides Madugu and his players with an opportunity to reinforce Nigeria’s position as the continent’s leading women’s football nation while facing strong competition from emerging rivals.

With experienced players and new talents expected to combine in Morocco, the Super Falcons will aim for a strong start as they pursue another historic achievement on the continental stage.
