A standout debut season sees Chiamaka Nnadozie emerge as the Women’s Super League’s most effective goalkeeper after a series of impressive performances

Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been recognised as the top-performing shot-stopper in the 2025/26 Barclays Women’s Super League season after recording the highest save percentage among regular goalkeepers in the competition.

The Super Falcons star achieved the milestone after an impressive first campaign in England, finishing with a 74.7 per cent save rate among goalkeepers who made at least 10 league appearances during the season.

Official WSL statistics showed that Nnadozie narrowly surpassed Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton, who recorded 74.6 per cent, while Manchester United’s Phallon Tullis-Joyce finished third with 73.6 per cent.

The 25-year-old faced 83 shots on target across 19 league appearances and successfully stopped 62 of those efforts, underlining her consistency in one of the world’s most competitive women’s football leagues.

Nnadozie’s performances provided Brighton with a dependable presence in goal throughout the campaign, as she regularly produced crucial saves against some of the division’s strongest sides.

Her outstanding displays also played a role in Brighton’s memorable run to the Women’s FA Cup final, although the club eventually lost to Manchester City in the title clash.

Beyond her save percentage achievement, the Nigerian goalkeeper kept six clean sheets during the season, placing her among the league’s best performers in that category. She also prevented an estimated 3.3 goals, highlighting her impact in high-pressure situations.

One of her most remarkable moments came when she produced a spectacular fingertip save against Liverpool, earning the WSL

Save of the Month award and a nomination for the league’s Save of the Season prize.

Nnadozie’s rise continues a remarkable journey that has seen her become one of Africa’s most decorated female goalkeepers.

She is a three-time CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year and remains a key figure for Nigeria’s Super Falcons.

The Brighton goalkeeper is currently with the national team in Casablanca, Morocco, as the Super Falcons prepare for their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title defence.
