Adamawa hanging death investigation launched after 46-year-old man was found dead in Girei LGA, police probe circumstances

The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into a sudden and unnatural death following the discovery of a 46-year-old man, identified as Ahmed Mohammed, found hanging on a tree at the foothills of Bagale Mountain in Girei Local Government Area, Adamawa State, on Monday, 23 March 2026.

The Adamawa hanging death investigation began after residents of Anguwan Hona reported the incident, prompting security operatives to move the deceased to Cottage Hospital, Girei, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.

Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed this in an official statement, noting that the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear and are currently under active scrutiny.

According to the statement, the case was classified as a sudden and unnatural death after the lifeless body was discovered at the remote Bagale Mountain area, raising concerns among residents of the community.

Authorities have assured the public that the Adamawa hanging death investigation is ongoing and aimed at establishing the exact cause of death, whether accidental, self-inflicted, or otherwise.

The police command also urged members of the public with relevant information to come forward to assist investigators in uncovering the truth behind the incident.
