Ademola Lookman completes medical ahead of €40m move from Atalanta to Atletico Madrid, agreeing a four-year contract worth €7m per season

Nigeria forward Ademola Lookman has completed his medical ahead of a €40 million move from Atalanta to Atletico Madrid, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The 28-year-old arrived in Spain on Sunday for medical tests, while Atalanta were playing their Serie A match against Como.

The transfer agreement, reached on Saturday, includes a €35m fixed fee plus €5m in performance-related add-ons.

Lookman has reportedly agreed to a four-year contract worth €7 million per season, representing more than a 300 per cent increase from the £2.13m he earned in Italy.

Turkish club Fenerbahce had also expressed interest, but Atletico met Atalanta’s valuation and completed the deal after Fenerbahce failed to finalise payment terms and bank guarantees, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The forward departs Atalanta after three-and-a-half seasons, during which he scored 55 goals in 137 appearances, including a hat-trick in the 2024 Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, securing the club’s first major European trophy.

Lookman began his professional career at Charlton Athletic in 2015, later joining Everton, RB Leipzig, Fulham, and Leicester City, before revitalising his career at Atalanta and establishing himself among Europe’s top forwards.
