AFCON 2025 Trophy unveiled in Lagos as TotalEnergies begins Nigeria leg of CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2025 Trophy Tour

AFCON 2025 Trophy made its Nigerian debut on Wednesday as TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc officially unveiled the coveted CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2025 prize at Eko Tower 2, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Managing Director Dr Samba Seye described the moment as a proud milestone for Nigeria and the entire continent.

“This moment is not just about football, it is about unity, pride, and the power of Africa to inspire the world,” he said. “At TotalEnergies, we are proud to connect millions of fans to the true heartbeat of our continent.”

Dr Seye emphasised that TotalEnergies’ involvement in AFCON goes beyond sponsorship, highlighting the company’s belief in Africa’s talent, resilience, and creativity.

“Football embodies those values perfectly — it inspires dreams, connects generations, and reminds us that Africa’s strength lies in its unity,” he added.

Executive Director for Human Resources and Corporate Services, Mrs Olubumi Popoola-Modi, reflected on the game’s unifying power.

“Every time Nigeria plays, I see the incredible unity the game brings to our people. The passion, the energy, the togetherness — it’s something magical,” she noted.

General Manager, Retail and Cards, Alhaji Abdulahi Umar, explained why Nigeria was chosen as the starting point for the tour.

“Nigeria holds a special place in African football history. Today, we unveil the actual AFCON trophy, not a replica. Fans get the rare opportunity to witness it up close, feel the energy, and dream big.”

The launch included a press conference and a public viewing celebration at Marcellina’s Place, GRA Ikeja, drawing football fans, media partners, and stakeholders from across Lagos.

From Nigeria, the AFCON 2025 Trophy will travel to Angola, South Africa, the Ivory Coast, and Morocco, spreading excitement ahead of the continental championship this December.
