African Aviation and Aerospace University wins strong stakeholder support, advancing bill to create a pioneering institution in aviation and aerospace

African Aviation and Aerospace University has gained strong stakeholder support during a public hearing held by the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation Technology.

The university aims to become a pioneering institution, offering specialised training and research in aviation and aerospace technologies.

The hearing brought together a wide range of key players from across the aviation sector, including representatives from Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, and other critical agencies.

The collaborative atmosphere was aimed at enriching the bill seeking the university’s formal establishment through an Act of Parliament.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, the Permanent Secretary, Ibrahim Kana, emphasised the government’s commitment to the project and the importance of securing legislative backing to ensure its success.

The Pro-Chancellor of the university, Goni Aji, described the hearing as a crucial step towards institutionalising the university, highlighting its significance to the region’s aviation and aerospace future.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Tajudeen Abbas, reaffirmed the legislature’s dedication to driving the bill forward, while the committee chairman, Tajudeen Abiodun, assured stakeholders of expedited attention to the matter.

Support also came from the Senate Committee on Aviation Technology, represented by Patrick Ndubueze, who pledged concurrence when the bill reaches the upper chamber.

The African Aviation and Aerospace University is set to elevate Nigeria’s position in aviation and aerospace by providing world-class education and fostering innovation in these vital sectors.
