Alexander Isak is officially on his way to Liverpool in a stunning £130 million transfer from Newcastle United, making the Swedish forward the most expensive signing in British football history.

Multiple outlets including The Athletic and The Telegraph confirmed the agreement on Monday, with the 25-year-old set to undergo a medical ahead of signing a six-year contract with the Premier League champions.

Isak’s move ends a summer-long transfer saga that saw tensions rise at Newcastle, where the striker trained separately after making clear his desire to join Liverpool.

The prolific forward scored 23 Premier League goals last season — second only to Mohamed Salah — and played a crucial role in Newcastle’s return to the UEFA Champions League.

“This is a world-class addition for Liverpool,” one source close to the deal said, calling Isak’s arrival a “statement signing” for the Reds.

Newcastle’s recent acquisition of German striker Nick Woltemade for a club-record £69 million was seen as a key indicator that Isak’s exit was imminent.
