Nollywood actress Aminatu Papapa has admitted she regrets supporting President Tinubu, calling it her greatest mistake after trusting his past record

Aminatu Papapa has openly admitted she regrets supporting President Bola Tinubu during the last general elections, describing it as her most painful political misstep.

In a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV, the Nollywood actress revealed that her support for the president stemmed from her admiration for his work as governor of Lagos State.

At the time, she firmly believed his leadership track record would pave the way for genuine national progress.

She recalled how her father, though not a politician, encouraged the entire family to vote, often praising Tinubu’s performance even during the tough years under former President Obasanjo.

Influenced by those memories and personal interactions with the now-president, Aminatu stood firmly by his campaign.

“That was what prompted me to support him this time around,” she said. “Whenever we had meetings with him, he also promised to do well. Later, it was after the elections I had a rethink. What I regret is that we were told that they wanted to renew the hope.”

Now, reflecting on the outcome of that choice, she describes it as her greatest error in judgement. Her remorse is not just personal but public.

She offered an emotional apology to Nigerians, stating that she feels the weight of having placed her hope in a promise that, in her view, was not fulfilled.

“If they asked me what was the only thing I have ever done in my life that I have regretted, it was during that election time. May our means of survival never fall into hardship.”

Her words speak to the growing disillusionment among former supporters of the president. While acknowledging the good Tinubu did in the past, Aminatu now questions the wisdom of relying solely on historical performance to forecast future leadership.

“I am taking this opportunity to plead with all Nigerians, including those who love me and those who do not like me,” she added. “No one is old enough to escape experience.

Even if you have known someone for a long time, you need to check them carefully before believing their words.”
