Osun LG election controversy

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the local government election conducted last Saturday in Osun State by Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing it as a *“sham, illegal, unconstitutional, and a waste of public funds

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on Sunday in Abuja, the party claimed the election was held in defiance of court rulings and risked inciting violence.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won all chairmanship and councillorship seats in the election — a result the APC called both suspicious and unjustified.

Morka recalled that the Court of Appeal ruling on February 10 reinstated previously dismissed local government officials and overturned a Federal High Court’s decision from November 2022.

He criticised Adeleke for proceeding with the election despite this judgment, terming the move a violation of Section 7(1) of the Nigerian Constitution.

*”Why would a governor who swore to uphold the Constitution disregard a valid court order?”* Morka questioned, adding that the APC had shown restraint and respect for the judiciary while Governor Adeleke ignored it.
