Arsenal defeated Chelsea 3–2 at Stamford Bridge to take an away advantage in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg

Arsenal secured a dramatic 3–2 away victory over Chelsea in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

Chelsea responded with renewed urgency in the second half.

Alejandro Garnacho pulled one back before later adding a second, including a late effort that followed a chaotic corner situation.

However, Arsenal restored a two-goal cushion in between Garnacho’s strikes.

Martin Zubimendi produced a decisive solo effort, cutting through Chelsea’s defence to score.

The encounter was played at high intensity, with both sides missing several key players through injury and suspension.

Despite sustained Chelsea pressure, Arsenal held on to secure a vital away win.

The result hands Arsenal a narrow advantage ahead of the second leg at the Emirates Stadium in early February.

In the other Carabao Cup semi-final, Manchester City claimed a 2–0 away win over Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Tuesday.

Arsenal now turn their attention back to league and European action.

The club confirmed it will face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday before travelling to Italy to meet Inter Milan in the Champions League.
