Arteta Arsenal title hopes are rising fast ahead of the new Premier League season, as Mikel Arteta declares his squad is more than ready to finally end their wait for silverware.

The Arsenal boss, who last lifted a trophy in 2020 with the FA Cup, expressed confidence that this campaign will be different fueled by belief, fresh signings, and a hunger to convert near-misses into major triumphs.

“We know what our targets are,” Arteta said in his programme notes ahead of Wednesday’s friendly against Villarreal. “There is a big belief in our ability to achieve that.”

Arsenal have finished second in the Premier League three seasons in a row and reached the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2009 last term. Now, expectations are sky-high after a massive £200 million investment this summer.

New signings include striker Viktor Gyokeres, midfielders Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard, centre-back Cristhian Mosquera**, winger Noni Madueke, and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Arteta stressed that success will come from daily internal standards, not just external pressure.

“The internal demands have to always exceed any external demand,” he said. “That is what we are trying to achieve every single day.”

He also called for the Emirates Stadium to become a fortress. “We want to feel invincible at home… to play with passion, energy, and connection with our people.”
