Aubameyang four-goal performance lit up the African qualifiers on Friday night as Gabon edged Gambia 4–3 in a pulsating 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier played at a neutral venue.

The second half began at a furious pace as Sidibeh extended Gambia’s advantage with a tidy finish from another Ceesay assist.

Yet Aubameyang, showing the predatory instincts that once made him a Premier League star, completed his hat-trick in the 66th minute after combining beautifully with Guélor Kanga.

The defining moment came in the 78th minute when the former Arsenal and Barcelona forward calmly slotted home his fourth goal following a precise cross from Ebané Matouti, sealing a stunning comeback victory for Gabon.

Despite a late surge from Gambia, Gabon’s defence held firm to secure three priceless points. The win lifts Gabon further up their qualifying group and keeps their World Cup dream alive.
