Chombo Malawi U20 squad call-up as coach Maggie Chombo includes overseas players for crucial World Cup qualifier against Nigeria

Malawi Under-20 Women’s national team head coach Maggie Chombo has named overseas-based players Faith Chinzimu and Rose Kabzere in her squad ahead of a decisive FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.

Chombo boosts Malawi U-20 team with new squad selections comes as Malawi prepare for the second leg of their final qualifying round fixture, scheduled for Saturday at the Bingu National Stadium.

Chombo’s side trail 2-0 after a first-leg defeat to Nigeria’s Falconets at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, leaving the team with a challenging task on home soil.

Faith Chinzimu, a midfielder who plays for Swedish club BK Häcken FF, brings valuable European experience to the squad following a successful campaign in which her team lifted the 2025/26 Women’s Europa League title.

Rose Kabzere, who is currently attached to French side Montpellier, also joins the squad as Malawi aim to strengthen their midfield and attacking options for the high-pressure encounter.

The inclusion of the duo is seen as a significant boost as Malawi continue their pursuit of a historic first qualification for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
