INEC assures readiness for a free, fair, and credible Babura/Garki Federal Constituency bye-election, with Jigawa police providing robust security measures

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured the public of its preparedness to conduct a free, fair, and credible bye-election in Babura/Garki Federal Constituency, scheduled for Saturday.

Prof. Abdullahi Abdu Zuru, INEC National Commissioner overseeing Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa States, made the disclosure during a visit to the Jigawa State Police Headquarters in Dutse.

The visit was part of ongoing consultations with security and electoral stakeholders ahead of the election.

Commending the Jigawa Police Command, Prof. Zuru highlighted the importance of synergy among security agencies and critical stakeholders to ensure a peaceful electoral process.

Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to providing robust security before, during, and after the bye-election.

He assured INEC and the public that the Police, in collaboration with other security agencies, have operational strategies in place to safeguard the entire process.

CP Muhammad appealed to political parties, candidates, and their supporters to maintain peace and abide by electoral regulations. He warned that the police would act decisively against anyone attempting to disrupt the election.

The Police Command also called on residents of Babura and Garki Local Government Areas to participate actively in the election, assuring them that adequate security measures will be in place to guarantee a safe voting environment.
