Barcelona return to La Liga top after Olmo, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal’s acrobatic goal helped beat Real Oviedo 3-0 at Camp Nou

Barcelona reclaimed first place in La Liga with a 3-0 victory over Real Oviedo at Camp Nou on Sunday, thanks to goals from Dani Olmo, Raphinha and an acrobatic effort from Lamine Yamal.

The Catalans moved ahead of Real Madrid by a single point after Los Blancos temporarily led the table following their win over Villarreal on Saturday.

Despite Oviedo’s lowly position, with just two victories all season, the visitors defended resolutely in the first half, frustrating Hansi Flick’s side until the break.

Olmo broke the deadlock in the second half, controlling a loose ball in the box before steering it past goalkeeper Joan Garcia. The goal sparked a series of chances for Barcelona.

Raphinha doubled the lead in the 57th minute, capitalising on a misdirected back-pass from David Costas to lob the ball over Garcia.

The highlight of the match came shortly after when Yamal produced a stunning sideways scissor kick from Olmo’s cross, securing the 3-0 win.

The match was played under heavy rain, with the downpour driving some fans from the stands.

Nevertheless, those who remained witnessed Barcelona’s dominance and Escandell’s save to deny Robert Lewandowski a potential fourth.

Barcelona’s passing improved in the second half, and the trio of Olmo, Raphinha, and Yamal were pivotal in breaking down Oviedo’s defence.

Injured midfielder Pedri Gonzalez watched the performance from the stands.
