Chelsea win over Crystal Palace 3-1 at Selhurst Park lifts Blues to fifth, extending Eagles’ winless run to 11 matches

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior guided his team to a 3-1 Premier League victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in London on Sunday, strengthening their position in the top five of the table.

Estêvão opened the scoring in the 34th minute after capitalising on a wayward pass from Jaydee Canvot, racing past Tyrick Mitchell to beat Dean Henderson. The visitors maintained pressure despite Palace’s attempts to respond.

Early in the second half, Estêvão provided an assist to João Pedro, who cut inside Adam Wharton and slotted the ball through Henderson’s legs to double Chelsea’s lead.

Fernández then converted a penalty after Canvot handled Pedro’s shot, giving Chelsea a commanding 3-0 advantage.

Palace’s troubles deepened when Wharton received two yellow cards in quick succession, ruling him out of their next Premier League match against Nottingham Forest.

Jefferson Lerma nearly reduced the deficit with a late header, but Sánchez denied him, though Chris Richards added a consolation goal in the 88th minute.

The win elevates Chelsea to fifth in the Premier League under Rosenior, who became the first English manager since Steven Gerrard in 2021 to win his opening two top-flight matches.

Crystal Palace extended their winless run to 11 consecutive competitive games.
