Michael Carrick steers Manchester United to a 3-2 comeback victory over Arsenal, marking his second consecutive Premier League win in charge

Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick delivered a stunning performance as his side came from behind to beat league leaders Arsenal 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium, London, on Sunday.

Arsenal opened the scoring in the 29th minute through Dutch defender Jurrien Timber, following a slick build-up involving Bukayo Saka and Piero Hincapie.

United responded eight minutes later when Bryan Mbeumo capitalised on a defensive error from Arsenal’s Zubimendi to level the score.

The second half belonged to Manchester United. Patrick Dorgu fired a left-footed strike from the edge of the box in the 51st minute to put the Red Devils ahead.

Dorgu later exited with a hamstring injury, making way for substitute Matheus Cunha.

Cunha’s impact was decisive. With the Emirates crowd silenced, he unleashed a thunderous 25-yard strike in the 90th minute, restoring United’s lead and sealing the victory after Mikel Merino had briefly equalised in the 84th minute.

The win marks Carrick’s second consecutive victory in charge, a rare feat for a manager’s first two Premier League matches.

The result moves Manchester United to fourth in the table, one point ahead of Chelsea, while Arsenal’s lead at the top was reduced to four points.
