Borno AI boot camp begins in Maiduguri as government partners Maxzeeton Technology to train youths in digital and artificial intelligence skills

The Borno State Government has commenced a Borno AI boot camp for secondary school students and young people aimed at equipping them with digital skills for job creation in an increasingly technology-driven economy.

The initiative follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the state government and Maxzeeton Technology, an indigenous technology company.

The Executive Secretary of the Borno State Information and Communications Technology Development Agency, Kabir Wanori, signed the agreement on behalf of the government in Maiduguri.

He explained that the firm would collect data on youth unemployment and support participants in strengthening their Artificial Intelligence skills.

“The objectives of this partnership are to address the rate of unemployment among youths and to bridge the gender inclusion gap among females in the technology ecosystem,” Wanori said.

He added that the collaboration would encourage innovation and professional networking among young participants, while reaffirming the state’s commitment to youth development and digital empowerment.

Chief Executive Officer of Maxzeeton Technology, Abdullahi Abbati, said the six-month programme would initially target 100 youths in Maiduguri. He disclosed that mentors and industry professionals would be engaged to provide guidance and practical exposure.

Abbati noted that the initiative aligns with Nigeria’s National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (2020–2030) and the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, both designed to promote AI adoption and digital skills among the country’s young population.

The Memorandum of Understanding outlines the responsibilities of both parties and provides for termination through formal written notice, signalling what stakeholders describe as a structured and forward-looking partnership.
