Borno CP Insurance Payout sees N20m disbursed to families of fallen officers under Nigeria Police Group Life Scheme

The Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, has disbursed ₦20,137,770.34 to nine beneficiaries under the Group Life Insurance Scheme, providing financial relief to families of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The presentation ceremony, held in Maiduguri, brought together next-of-kin and family members of the deceased officers, who received cheques intended to support education, healthcare and general welfare needs.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Borno State Command, Nahum Daso.

“The Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, has successfully disbursed a total sum of ₦20,137,770.34 to nine beneficiaries under the Group Life Insurance Scheme,” the statement read.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration, DCP Ibrahim Sumaila, represented CP Naziru Abdulmajid at the event and conveyed a message from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

DCP Ibrahim Sumaila emphasised that the welfare of serving officers and their families remains a priority for the Force, describing the Borno CP Insurance Payout as a demonstration of institutional commitment.

“The Group Life Insurance Scheme is a testament to the IGP’s compassion, accountability and exemplary leadership in honouring officers who made the ultimate sacrifice for national peace and security,” DCP Ibrahim Sumaila said.

He urged beneficiaries to utilise the funds prudently to ensure long-term stability for their households, noting that the scheme provides a crucial safety net during periods of profound loss.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Mr Modu Ishaku expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General for the gesture and assured that the support would be managed judiciously.

The latest Borno CP Insurance Payout follows a similar exercise in January 2026, when the Command disbursed approximately ₦18.38m to nine families of fallen officers.
