Bournemouth appoint Marco Rose as new head coach on a three-year deal, replacing Andoni Iraola at the end of the season

English Premier League club AFC Bournemouth on Monday confirmed the appointment of German tactician Marco Rose as their new head coach on a three-year contract, marking a decisive leadership change ahead of next season.

The club stated that Marco Rose will officially take over from current head coach Andoni Iraola at the end of the campaign, following Iraola’s decision not to extend his stay beyond the current season.

In an official statement released by AFC Bournemouth, the club described Marco Rose as an experienced and highly respected manager with a proven record at the highest level of European football.

The statement added that Bournemouth appoint Marco Rose reflects the club’s ambition to continue its upward trajectory and build on recent progress in the Premier League.

Marco Rose, aged 49, arrives at the Vitality Stadium after leaving RB Leipzig in 2025 and has previously managed Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Red Bull Salzburg, earning praise for his aggressive pressing style and focus on youth development.

Speaking after his appointment, Marco Rose described the move as an exciting opportunity in his coaching career.

He said AFC Bournemouth has a clear identity and strong ambition, adding that he intends to build on the foundations already laid and push the club to the next competitive level.

Andoni Iraola, who will remain in charge until the end of the season, expressed pride in his tenure, noting that he has enjoyed building a competitive and evolving squad during his time at the club.

The coaching transition comes after Bournemouth reportedly considered several candidates, including Kieran McKenna and Inigo Pérez, before settling on Rose due to his European experience and tactical pedigree.
