The partially completed two-storey building on Modupe Ola Street, Onipetesi Estate, Mangoro, gave way around 5:39 a.m., prompting a swift response from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.

Units from Ikeja and Agege stations arrived at 6:24 a.m., bringing the situation under control.

Originally a bungalow, the building was undergoing conversion into a two-storey structure when the rear section collapsed.

The workers, all adult males, were present on the ground floor at the time of the incident.

Margaret Adeseye, Controller General of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the five men were rescued alive with varying injuries and immediately taken to hospital. Thankfully, no fatalities were reported.
