The memorial took place at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos, drawing a poignant gathering of regulators, industry leaders, clients, partners, and members of the wider business community.

The event underscored the deep loss felt across Nigeria’s capital market and beyond.

In a statement made available to PUNCH Online, United Capital Group confirmed the tragic deaths, which occurred on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the company’s headquarters in Lagos.

The service was also livestreamed for well-wishers abroad, with additional viewing centres set up in Abuja and Port Harcourt, allowing more colleagues and associates to join in paying their respects.

The ceremony began with a heartfelt address from Group CEO Peter Ashade, who led a moment of silence before delivering a moving tribute to the departed.

He shared personal memories and extended words of comfort to the grieving families.

Tony Elumelu, CFR and Chairman of Heirs Holdings, spoke with visible emotion, reaffirming the unity and resilience of the United Capital and Heirs Holdings families during this difficult time.

Tributes from family members, friends, and colleagues beautifully captured the lives and legacies of those lost, while the ceremony concluded with an uplifting message from Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, offering hope and consolation.

Renowned singer Timi Dakolo’s stirring performance left the gathering in solemn reflection, marking a dignified end to a respectful and heartfelt occasion.
