Cameroon face injury worries as Zambo Anguissa and Choupo-Moting pull out of the 2026 World Cup playoffs, with Onana also battling an ankle problem

Cameroon have suffered a double injury setback ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs, with key players Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting ruled out of action.

The Napoli midfielder, Zambo Anguissa, limped out of Tuesday’s training session in Rabat, Morocco, after picking up a hamstring injury, while Choupo-Moting sustained a knee sprain during the same session.

Both players have since left the team’s camp, dealing a major blow to manager Rigobert Song’s preparations for Thursday’s crucial clash against the Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Barid Stadium in Rabat.

Adding to the concerns, first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana is reportedly nursing an ankle injury, raising doubts about his availability for the match.

Cameroon’s depleted squad will now look to regroup quickly ahead of the high-stakes semi-final, with the winner set to face either Nigeria or Gabon in Sunday’s final at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Stadium.

The Indomitable Lions, five-time World Cup participants, will be hoping to overcome the injury crisis and keep their qualification hopes alive.
