Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has confirmed that discussions regarding his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are ongoing, while insisting his primary focus remains firmly on managing the national team and preparing for upcoming competitions.

Éric Chelle, whose current deal runs until January 2027, disclosed that financial aspects of his contract are being handled by his representative as he concentrates on football-related responsibilities following Nigeria’s third-place finish at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco earlier this year.

Speaking to journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, the Super Eagles coach acknowledged the negotiations but emphasised that he is prioritising his coaching duties over contractual matters amid ongoing attention surrounding the Chelle NFF contract talks Nigeria situation.

“Yes, there are financial issues to be discussed and resolved. But I leave them to my agent to handle with the federation,” Chelle said.

“I want to concentrate on the job and the task at hand,” he added.

Despite reports linking him with interest from other national teams, Chelle maintained a calm and focused stance, insisting that his attention remains on squad development and upcoming assignments.

The coach is expected to begin scouting players across the Nigeria Premier Football League as part of his ongoing efforts to reshape the Super Eagles squad ahead of the Unity Cup in London.

“I am coming to Nigeria to watch some NPFL games and see some players and we have the Unity Cup in London to prepare for,” Chelle stated.

Nigeria will begin their Unity Cup campaign against Zimbabwe at The Valley on Tuesday, 26 May, with a potential second fixture against either Jamaica or India depending on the outcome of the opening match.
