Chelsea Fermin Lopez transfer links are heating up as the Blues consider tabling a £43 million bid for the Barcelona midfielder, according to The Athletic.

Manager Enzo Maresca is keen on strengthening his midfield options before the transfer deadline. Reports suggest Chelsea have already made contact with Lopez’s representatives, although no formal offer has yet been submitted.

The 22-year-old Spaniard has become a key figure under Barcelona boss Hansi Flick, closing in on 100 appearances for the LaLiga champions.

Last season, Lopez played in 46 matches across competitions, scoring eight goals and providing 10 assists. His contributions included six goals and five assists in LaLiga as Barcelona lifted the Spanish league title.

This season, Lopez featured for 45 minutes in Barca’s opening-day victory against Real Mallorca but was an unused substitute in their 3-2 win over Levante.
