Chelsea begin probe into Chelsea lineup leak after starting XI surfaced online before a damaging 5–2 Champions League defeat to PSG in Paris

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior said the club will investigate a suspected Chelsea lineup leak after the team’s starting XI reportedly appeared online hours before their UEFA Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain in Paris on Wednesday night.

Speaking after Chelsea’s damaging 5–2 defeat at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday, March 12, Rosenior confirmed that the club would look into how confidential team information became public before kick-off.

The revelation has raised serious concerns inside the Premier League club about internal security and the handling of sensitive matchday details.

“I wasn’t aware,” Rosenior said during his post-match press conference. “I’m sure we will get to the bottom of it if that’s the case.”

The alleged Chelsea lineup leak emerged online earlier in the day, prompting speculation among supporters and media that the starting team had been disclosed before the official announcement.

The match itself proved punishing for the visitors.

Paris Saint-Germain made a rapid start and took the lead in the 10th minute when Bradley Barcola finished a swift attacking move.

Chelsea responded with determination, drawing level 18 minutes later when defender Malo Gusto produced a composed finish to restore parity.

However, PSG regained control before the interval. Ousmane Dembélé, the reigning Ballon d’Or winner, struck in the 40th minute to give the French champions a 2–1 advantage at half-time.

Chelsea returned with renewed energy after the break. Midfielder Enzo Fernández scored in the 57th minute to make it 2–2 and briefly revive hopes of a positive result.

Those hopes faded in the closing stages.

A costly error by goalkeeper Filip Jørgensen allowed Vitinha to restore PSG’s lead in the 74th minute.

The French side then delivered a ruthless late surge, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scoring twice in the final ten minutes to secure an emphatic victory.

The commanding win leaves Chelsea facing a daunting task in the return leg of the Champions League round-of-16 tie.

Rosenior’s side will now turn their attention to domestic duties, with a Premier League fixture against Newcastle United scheduled for Saturday.
