Dangote Cement earns praise from OGIRS for outstanding tax compliance, reaffirming its role as Ogun’s top taxpayer and a model of corporate responsibility.

Dangote Cement tax compliance credentials have once again earned top recognition, as the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) commended the company’s Ibese Plant for its outstanding civic responsibility and consistent role as the state’s highest industrial taxpayer.

The accolade was given during a courtesy visit to the 12 million metric tonne Ibese Cement Plant by OGIRS officials, led by the Director of Field Operations, Mrs Oluwaseun Olajube.

“Dangote Cement Ibese has become a benchmark for corporate responsibility, financial transparency, and tax discipline in Ogun State,” Olajube stated.

She further expressed satisfaction with the company’s sustained excellence in tax matters and urged its management to maintain proper documentation and deepen collaboration with OGIRS, particularly through its Yewa North Zonal Office.

Olajube emphasized the importance of a robust partnership between the state and private sector actors, noting that such collaboration is essential for sustainable revenue generation and public infrastructure development.

“We reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening alliances with key stakeholders like Dangote Cement, to promote transparency, accountability, and mutual economic benefit,” she added.

Responding on behalf of the company, Mr. Ayyagari Subbaraidu, Director of Dangote Cement Ibese Plant, thanked OGIRS for its recognition and reiterated the company’s dedication to responsible corporate behavior.

“This recognition goes beyond figures—it reflects leadership, integrity, and the positive impact of responsible corporate citizenship,” Subbaraidu noted.

He stressed that tax revenue is the economic backbone of state development and promised the company’s continued commitment to upholding principles of compliance, transparency, and accountability in all its dealings with government agencies.

This visit comes shortly after Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Industries Limited, revealed that the Group had paid over ₦402 billion in taxes in 2024, making it Nigeria’s highest taxpayer.

The company has also recently been recognized with awards, including Nigeria’s Best Compliant Taxpayer Business Organisation and the FMDQ Gold Award for excellence in the foreign exchange market.

The visit to Dangote Cement Ibese underscores a growing synergy between public institutions and private enterprises in Ogun State.
