The incident followed Denrele’s X (formerly Twitter) post celebrating International Women’s Day, where he reflected on masculinity, femininity, and the influence of women in his life.

He also honoured his mother’s recent birthday and shared that he embodies both masculine and feminine energy.

A critic responded:

“Bobrisky don leave Naija, old taker don resurrect.”

Denrele quickly dismissed the claim, asserting his long-standing presence in the entertainment industry:

“Legends don’t resurrect. They never left the stage. This ‘old taker’ started out in professional showbiz 32 years ago… Three decades of exposure, expertise and experience.”

The media personality’s career began in 1994 with the television show KidiVision 101 on the Nigerian Television Authority, and he emphasized that his decades of experience demonstrate his continued relevance.

Social media users also reacted, defending Denrele and criticizing the comparison to Bobrisky:

  • @janniemilly: “It’s just like comparing wheelbarrow (Bobrisky) to Benz (Denrele) 🤦🏾‍♀️.”

Denrele’s response reinforced his status as a veteran entertainer who continues to shape the Nigerian media landscape, independent of trends or contemporaries.
