Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji approves ₦596.6m car and housing loans for 807 teaching and non-teaching public school staff to improve welfare

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has approved the disbursement of ₦596.6 million as car and housing loans to 807 teaching and non-teaching staff in public secondary schools across the state.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by Michael Boluwade, Permanent Secretary of the Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission, who said the move aims to improve staff welfare and boost morale.

“Out of the total amount approved for disbursement, ₦381.5 million is earmarked for car loans to 382 beneficiaries, while ₦215.1 million will be disbursed as a fresh tranche of housing loans to 425 beneficiaries,” Boluwade explained.

The loans reflect a 100% increase in rates earlier approved by Governor Oyebanji and will be granted to qualified personnel of the commission.

Boluwade thanked the governor for approving additional funds to complement the commission’s revolving loan fund, enabling the new higher disbursement rates.

Beneficiaries were reminded to use the loans for their intended purposes and to repay the loans through direct salary deductions.

During the 2025 Workers’ Day celebration, Governor Oyebanji highlighted various initiatives aimed at uplifting workers’ welfare, including previous loan disbursements amounting to ₦400 million, recruitment of subject teachers, employment of primary school staff, career progression approvals, infrastructure upgrades, and payment of the minimum wage.
