Evra criticises Walcott Arsenal comparison after former Arsenal star compared 2008 Man United team to current Arsenal side

The comparison controversy stems from a recent debate involving Walcott and former United striker Wayne Rooney, where the question was raised about how the iconic 2008 side would fare against Mikel Arteta’s present team.

Rooney had confidently dismissed the comparison, insisting that his 2008 Manchester United squad would overpower the current Arsenal side.

Evra, however, took an even stronger stance when revisiting the discussion during a conversation with Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs, describing Walcott’s remarks in highly critical terms.

Patrice Evra joked that Walcott should not appear on television as a pundit, suggesting his comments were misleading and disrespectful to the legacy of past teams.

He further accused the former Arsenal star of making what he described as irrational comparisons, arguing that such debates distort football history.

Evra said the ongoing narrative around Arsenal’s current squad reflects unrealistic expectations, adding that some opinions in the media space lack balance and understanding.

The Evra criticises Walcott Arsenal comparison remarks have since sparked debate among fans, with opinions divided over both the modern Arsenal team and the legacy of the 2008 Manchester United side.
