FIFA fines Israeli FA $190,700 over racism breaches and orders anti-discrimination measures after investigation findings

FIFA has imposed a fine on the Israeli Football Association for multiple breaches of its anti-discrimination regulations, following an investigation into repeated incidents of racist behaviour.

In a ruling issued Thursday, FIFA’s disciplinary committee fined the Israeli Football Association 150,000 Swiss francs (approximately $190,700) after determining that it failed to take adequate action against Beitar Jerusalem over persistent and well-documented cases of racism.

FIFA also issued a formal warning and ordered the association to display a prominent anti-discrimination banner at its next three home matches in FIFA competitions, bearing the message “Football Unites the World – No to Discrimination.”

As part of the sanctions, one-third of the fine must be allocated towards implementing measures aimed at combating discrimination and preventing future incidents.

The decision follows a complaint lodged in October 2024 by the Palestine Football Association, which prompted FIFA to open an investigation into alleged discriminatory conduct linked to Israeli football.

FIFA stated that the sanctions reflect its commitment to enforcing anti-discrimination standards across the global game, amid increasing scrutiny of racism in football.
