Rivers United technical adviser Finidi George has expressed satisfaction with his side’s composed performance following their narrow 1-0 victory over Plateau United in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday.

The Port Harcourt-based club returned to the top of the league table after Wisdom Samuel scored the decisive goal in the 10th minute, finishing off a well-timed assist from Taofeek Otaniyi.

“We didn’t suffer much, it was a game that we controlled properly, no too much stress at the back,” Finidi George said after the match, while acknowledging that his side did not create many chances but maintained strong defensive organisation.

Despite limited attacking output, the Rivers United coach praised the overall discipline and structure of his players, describing the result as a positive step forward in their title push.
