Ghana Police arrest a Nigerian fugitive linked to the FRSC murder case and prepare his repatriation after an intelligence-led operation

The Eastern South Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service, George Ohene-Boadi, on Sunday confirmed the arrest of Nigerian national Victor Benjamin Fejemirokum, a prime suspect in the FRSC murder case involving Federal Road Safety Corps officer Superintendent Route Commander Lasisi Funmilayo Oluwamayokun and her daughter, Sewa Lasisi.

Ohene-Boadi told journalists during a press briefing that Fejemirokum was captured inside a friend’s residence in Akyem Wenchi, Akwatia, following an intelligence alert that he had fled Nigeria to evade arrest.

He explained that officers immediately launched an intelligence-led operation after a viral video linked Fejemirokum to the abduction and killing of the FRSC officer and her teenage daughter in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The commander said the swift operation was necessary due to the gravity of the allegations and the transnational nature of the manhunt.

He described the arrest as a powerful demonstration of cross-border security collaboration.

The Ghana Police confirmed that arrangements were under way to repatriate Fejemirokum to Nigeria, where he is expected to face further investigation and prosecution.

Oluwamayokun, a senior FRSC operational officer responsible for coordinating enforcement across multiple routes, and her daughter were declared missing on 2 November after leaving their Obasanjo Hilltop Estate residence in Abeokuta.

Efforts by family members and colleagues to reach them proved unsuccessful. Days later, police investigators discovered their mutilated remains at a suspected herbalist’s den in Osun State.

The herbalist and several other suspects were detained, though the prime suspect had already escaped.

Ogun State Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo confirmed that the case had been transferred to the Osun State Command, which continues to coordinate investigative efforts.

The Ghana Police stated that Fejemirokum remains in custody pending formal handover to Nigerian authorities.
