Hamzat Lagos governorship bid gains momentum as the deputy governor submits APC nomination forms for the 2027 election

The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, on Thursday officially submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the 2027 governorship election at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja.

Speaking shortly after the submission, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat said his decision to enter the race was motivated by a strong sense of responsibility to the people of Lagos and a commitment to sustaining the developmental strides already recorded in the state.

“We are in the political cycle, and we are in a progressive party that follows due process and is well organised, the All Progressives Congress,” Hamzat said.

“Today, we are here to submit our forms and indicate our intentions for positions. Our party has slated this date for the submission, and that is why you see this activity with personalities here in a very joyous and celebratory mood.”

The deputy governor described the Hamzat Lagos governorship bid as a continuation of service aimed at building a stronger and more efficient Lagos for residents, businesses and communities.

Kadri Obafemi Hamzat noted that while the state had witnessed substantial growth through collaborative governance over the years, there was still room to improve infrastructure, public service delivery, economic expansion and living standards.

“We have made progress together, but there is still more to do. I am stepping forward with experience, purpose and a deep belief in the future of our state,” he stated.

“We understand the geography and the history of Lagos, so it is just to project it better. Good things are already in Lagos. It is to make sure that the good things continue.”

The deputy governor added that the submission of the nomination forms represented another significant step towards advancing inclusive growth, innovation and sustainable development across the state.

Kadri Obafemi Hamzat also pledged to continue engaging residents, stakeholders and communities to ensure Lagos retains its position as a leading centre for economic prosperity and progressive governance in Nigeria.
