Harry Maguire Manchester United contract extension keeps the England defender at Old Trafford until 2027 with option for an extra year

Harry Maguire has signed a new contract with Manchester United, extending his stay at Old Trafford until June 2027, with an option for an additional year.

The announcement, confirmed on Tuesday, comes as the 33-year-old England defender was previously set to become a free agent at the end of the season.

The Harry Maguire Manchester United contract extension follows renewed confidence in the centre-back, who has re-established his role within the squad and remains a senior figure in the dressing room.

Maguire joined Manchester United from Leicester City in a reported £80 million transfer in 2019 and has since made 266 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals across all competitions.

The defender has played a key role in stabilising United’s backline and has contributed to improved performances under interim manager Michael Carrick, earning a recall to the England national team for recent international fixtures.

Speaking after signing the deal, Maguire described his commitment to the club as an honour.

“Representing Manchester United is the ultimate honour. I am delighted to extend my journey at this incredible club and continue to play in front of our special supporters. The ambition and potential of this squad is clear, and I am confident our best moments are still ahead,” he said.

Manchester United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, praised Maguire’s leadership qualities and experience, noting that he brings “invaluable experience” to a developing squad.
