Adekunle defeated Saheed Olatilewa in straight sets, 11-5 and 11-9, marking his third consecutive championship. He had finished runner-up in the inaugural edition before claiming victory in the subsequent three tournaments.

“I thank God for making it possible for me to come first in this fourth edition. In the first edition, I came second, but since then, I have been winning. I’m so happy to defend my trophy again,” Adekunle said.

The tournament, which began as a modest in-house contest at Chrisland School, Victoria Garden City, expanded this year to include staff from the Lekki branch, reflecting significant growth.

Founder Henrietta Ovuede praised the event’s evolution. “It started small, just for teachers to unwind and relieve stress. Over the years, it has grown bigger,” she said.

“Last year was the height of it, and this year we extended it to Lekki schools. Next year, we hope to move it to the Island and open it up to other schools at a neutral venue.”

Dr Jide Onigbogi, Executive Head of Schools for Business Development and Communications, commended the tournament’s development.
