The Independent National Electoral Commission promotes 2,339 personnel in its 2025 Senior Staff Promotion Exercise to reinforce career progression and institutional stability

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved the promotion of 2,339 personnel in its 2025 Senior Staff Promotion Exercise, reinforcing the commission’s commitment to career progression, institutional continuity, and organisational stability.

The decision was announced following a commission meeting held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, in Abuja, according to a statement issued by Mrs Victoria Eta-Messi.

Among the promoted staff, 82 Chief Officers on Grade Level (GL) 14–15 advanced to the position of Assistant Directors, while 91 Assistant Directors on GL 15–16 were elevated to Deputy Directors.

At the directorate level (GL 16–17), 45 Deputy Directors were promoted to the rank of Directors. Of these, 18 will continue in active service, while 27 are due for retirement shortly after their promotion, in line with public service regulations.

The promotion exercise also impacted 2,121 intermediate officers on GL 07–13 across various departments of the commission.

The statement emphasised that all promotions were conducted in accordance with established guidelines and public service rules, reflecting INEC’s resolve to reward merit, dedication, and years of service.

The commission congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to redouble their commitment to professionalism, integrity, and impartiality in the discharge of their responsibilities, particularly as preparations continue for forthcoming electoral engagements.
