The APC chieftain made the announcement on Saturday via his X handle, revealing that his formal declaration would take place on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Osun APC Secretariat in Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo.

Themed “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams,” the event is scheduled for 10 a.m. and expected to attract top APC leaders and party faithful.

“My beloved people of Osun State, after deep reflection and wide consultations, I have decided to formally declare my intention to contest for the Governor of Osun State in 2026 under our great party, the All Progressives Congress,” Omisore wrote.

He added that his campaign would focus on restoring hope, strengthening governance, and delivering a brighter future for Osun citizens.

“This is not just my mission, it is a collective one. I humbly invite you to join me as we take this bold step towards the Osun Rescue Mission 2026,” he stated.

Omisore’s political career spans more than two decades. He first served as deputy governor of Osun State between 1999 and 2003 under the Alliance for Democracy before being elected as senator representing Osun East from 2003 to 2011, where he chaired the influential Senate Appropriations Committee.

The engineer-turned-politician contested the 2014 governorship election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but lost to then-incumbent governor Rauf Aregbesola.

Afterward, he briefly joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP), where he ran again in the 2018 election before formally defecting to the APC in 2021.

Within just over a year of joining the ruling party, Omisore rose rapidly through the ranks, emerging as National Secretary of the APC during the 2022 national convention in Abuja a testament to his growing influence within the party structure.

Political observers say Omisore’s entry into the 2026 race could significantly alter Osun’s political dynamics. As a seasoned politician with roots across multiple parties, he is seen as a unifying figure capable of bridging divides within the APC.
