Former PDP chieftain, Jandor, officially joins APC after defection. He was welcomed by Lagos APC leaders during a pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia

 

Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking the culmination of his recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The former PDP Lagos State governorship candidate and Visioner of the Lagos4Lagos Movement was warmly welcomed by key APC figures during a significant meeting in Saudi Arabia.

Jandor’s spokesman, Pastor Gbenga Ogunleye, released a statement on Thursday, revealing that Jandor was received by the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC), led by Prince Tajudeen Olusi.

This reception occurred during the Umrah pilgrimage, adding a symbolic layer to his official entry into the ruling party.

“In a significant display of unity, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, Jandor, was warmly received by the Lagos State GAC Chairman, Prince Tajudeen Olusi; Chief Rabiu Oluwa, Badagry Division Apex Leader of APC and fellow GAC member; Sen. Ganiu Olanrewaju Solomon; and Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro,” the statement detailed.

The meeting in the sacred city was seen as a crucial moment for engagement among Lagos political stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration.

“This meeting, held in the sacred city, was a symbolic moment for engagement between key Lagos political stakeholders, emphasising the importance of unity,” Adediran added.

He further stated, “This encounter demonstrates our shared commitment to the progress and unity of Lagos State, highlighting the enduring values of collective responsibility and synergy to advance the ruling party’s vision.”

Jandor’s move to the APC follows his resignation from the PDP on March 3, citing indiscipline and betrayal by party leaders. Before joining the PDP in 2021, Jandor was an APC governorship aspirant and led the Lagos4Lagos Movement. This move marks a significant shift in Lagos State politics.
