Joe Cole Chelsea experienced signings warning as former midfielder urges Blues to add veteran players to support young squad and improve results

Joe Cole Chelsea experienced signings warning comes amid concerns over Chelsea’s youthful squad, which has been built under BlueCo’s recruitment strategy focused heavily on young, high-potential players on long-term contracts.

Despite that approach, Chelsea’s lack of experience has contributed to an inconsistent campaign, with the club currently sitting ninth in the Premier League and at risk of missing out on European qualification.

Cole argued that the Blues need proven leadership and maturity within the dressing room, stressing that experienced players could provide immediate impact both on and off the pitch.

He specifically pointed to Manchester City defender John Stones as a potential target, while also suggesting Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski as a short-term solution to bolster Chelsea’s attack.

According to Cole, a one-year deal for Lewandowski could significantly benefit younger forwards such as Joao Pedro and Liam Delap by offering guidance and goal-scoring support in a demanding season.

The former England international also highlighted Jordan Henderson as another valuable addition, praising his influence at Brentford and insisting that his leadership qualities often go beyond statistics.

Cole emphasised that such players bring intangible qualities that cannot always be measured in match ratings but are crucial for developing younger teammates and stabilising performances.

Chelsea are next scheduled to face Manchester City in the FA Cup final, a high-stakes encounter that will test their resilience as they look to salvage silverware from a challenging campaign.
