The decision was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday night by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on behalf of the commissioner.

According to the statement, the suspension was reached in collaboration with the Kano State Government to prevent criminal elements from exploiting the annual cultural gathering to perpetrate offences such as thuggery, mobile phone theft and drug abuse.

Police authorities noted that intelligence assessments indicated potential security risks associated with large gatherings linked to the Tashe performances, prompting proactive measures to safeguard residents during Ramadan.

The police further encouraged residents to report suspicious movements or security threats through designated emergency lines or via the “NPF Rescue Me” mobile application.
