Liverpool Slot Mohamed Salah: Manager Arne Slot backs Salah, will discuss his future after the winger’s recent frustration over playing time

Liverpool, England — Liverpool manager Arne Slot has affirmed that there are “no reasons not to want Mohamed Salah to stay” at the club, following the Egypt international’s public frustration over his recent exclusion from the squad.

Salah, 33, voiced discontent after Liverpool’s 2-2 draw at Leeds, claiming he had been “thrown under the bus” and was subsequently left out of Tuesday’s Champions League fixture against Inter Milan. The winger said he had “earned his place” in the team.

Slot confirmed on Friday that he will hold further discussions with Salah to address the situation. “I have no reason to not want him to stay. I will have a conversation with Mo. The outcome of that conversation determines how things will look [on Saturday],” Slot said.

Liverpool prepare to host Brighton at Anfield on Saturday, seeking to recover from consecutive Premier League draws. Salah, who signed a new two-year contract in April, has scored 250 goals in 420 appearances for the Reds.

Despite his prolific record, Salah has been an unused substitute in two of the last three league games.
