The 28-year-old Super Falcons defender is one of just eight defenders nominated for the prestigious annual lineup, which honours the best female footballers worldwide as voted by over 25,000 professional players.

Alozie joins a star-studded field featuring England’s Millie Bright, Lucy Bronze, Alex Greenwood, and Leah Williamson, Spain’s Ona Batlle and Olga Carmona, and Australia’s Ellie Carpenter.

Her nomination crowns a stellar campaign in which she played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s triumph at the 2024 African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON).

Alozie scored the decisive goal in the Super Falcons’ semi-final victory over South Africa’s Banyana Banyana and was later named in the Team of the Tournament.

At club level, Michelle Alozie continued her fine form for Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League, helping to anchor one of the division’s most disciplined defences.

The FIFPRO World 11 is voted for by professional footballers worldwide and includes one goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders, and three forwards — with an additional outfield player chosen based on the next highest votes.

While Alozie’s inclusion delighted Nigerian fans, there was disappointment on the men’s side as Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen was left out of the 25-man shortlist for the 2025 FIFPRO Men’s World 11, despite leading Galatasaray to a historic domestic double and finishing as the Turkish league’s top scorer.
