Nigeria Customs Service collects N7.2 trillion in 2025, surpassing targets by 10%, Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale announces

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded a total revenue collection of N7.2 trillion for the 2025 fiscal year, Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale announced on Monday in Abuja.

The announcement was made during the International Customs Day 2026 celebrations, themed “Customs Protecting Society through Vigilance and Commitment.”

According to Adewale, the revenue exceeded the target by 10 per cent, reflecting strengthened operational efficiency and enhanced compliance across Nigeria’s borders.

He described the achievement as a demonstration of the service’s commitment to lawful trade, anti-smuggling measures, and boosting government funding for critical infrastructure and social services.

The NCS has recently implemented reforms, including technological upgrades, improved risk management, and increased surveillance, which Adewale credited for the successful revenue performance.

International Customs Day 2026 also served as a platform to discuss best practices, cross-border collaboration, and innovations aimed at modernising customs operations nationwide.
