On Saturday morning, Akekoromowei struck twice while Favour Nkwocha added another as the Falconets cruised past arch-rivals Ghana in their opening game.

The victory underlined the team’s intent to maintain Nigeria’s dominance in women’s youth football across West Africa.

Barely twenty-four hours later, Kareem found the net in the 15th and 60th minutes against the hosts, Bénin Republic, before Precious Oscar sealed the win with a late strike to make it 3–0.
