At least one Nigerian was injured in Iranian missile attacks on the UAE, amid rising Middle East tensions, with 122 others affected

At least one Nigerian citizen was among 122 people injured in Iranian missile attacks on the United Arab Emirates. The strikes are part of escalating tensions in the Middle East following allegations that the UAE allowed United States to use its bases for operations targeting Iran.

The UAE Ministry of Defence reported that since February 28, Iranian forces launched 262 ballistic missiles, of which 241 were intercepted, 19 fell into the sea, and two struck UAE territory. Furthermore, 1,475 drones were detected, with 1,385 neutralized.

The attacks resulted in six deaths, affecting citizens from the UAE, Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh. Injured individuals include people from Nigeria, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, the Comoros, Türkiye, Iraq, Oman, Jordan, and Palestine. Exact nationality-specific casualty figures were not disclosed.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation and coordinate emergency responses to care for the injured.
