North-East APC coalition reaffirms loyalty to Ganduje’s leadership, backs Dogara for 2027, and urges Tinubu to fast-track North-East road infrastructure
North-East APC coalition has reaffirmed its unwavering loyalty to the All Progressives Congress, throwing its weight behind the national leadership of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje while calling for national unity and infrastructural equity.
In a communiqué issued at the end of a two-day strategic meeting held in Gombe, the North-East Coalition of APC Support Groups declared its confidence in Ganduje’s stewardship, describing his leadership as crucial to the party’s stability and future growth.
Signed by the coalition’s Chairman, Hon. Sha’abdini Bello, and Secretary, Barrister Jerry Adamu, the document stated, “We reaffirm our commitment to the supremacy of the APC and pledge our full support to the party’s national leadership under His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. Unity and loyalty remain the bedrock of our party’s success.”
The coalition took a strong position against a rival faction identified as the “so-called Pro-Arewa Group,” accusing it of selfish political manoeuvring that undermines the collective good of the APC and the nation. “The activities of this group are a clear deviation from the goals of the APC, Arewa, and Nigeria at large,” the statement noted.
It urged President Bola Tinubu and the APC leadership to ignore divisive elements and remain focused on their national agenda.
The coalition applauded President Tinubu for his efforts in building an inclusive government and encouraged him to extend further appointments to individuals who demonstrate national character and competence.
“The President has proven to be a champion of minority groups. We encourage him to further onboard Nigerians with intellectual capacity and a sense of national unity to strengthen development across all regions,” the communiqué read.
In a politically charged move ahead of the 2027 general election, the group endorsed former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, as a possible running mate to Tinubu.
“Dogara’s leadership during the 8th Assembly was inclusive and unifying. He is a trusted and tested leader whose capacity to unify the country is undeniable,” the coalition asserted.
On infrastructure, the coalition urged the federal government to speed up the procurement and execution of the Akwanga-Gombe Road project, a highway it described as a critical lifeline between the North-East and Abuja.
“Just as other regions are witnessing transformational infrastructure, the North-East deserves equal attention to promote balanced national development,” it added.
Reiterating its full loyalty to the APC and the President, the coalition called on all party members and supporters to uphold unity, discipline, and commitment.
“This is a moment of Renewed Hope and National Rebirth. We must stay committed to the ideals of our great party and support the President’s vision for a united and prosperous Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
