NPFL title race heats up as Rangers and Rivers United win crucial matches, setting up a final-day showdown for the championship.

Enugu Rangers kept their pursuit of a ninth Nigeria Premier Football League title alive with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Bendel Insurance F.C. on Sunday, in a result that intensified the season’s title race.

NPFL race Rangers Rivers United battle took another twist as former top scorer Godwin Obaje delivered a decisive brace for the Flying Antelopes, while Alex Oweifaleya netted a consolation goal for the visitors.

Elsewhere, second-placed Rivers United F.C. kept pace with a dramatic 3–2 away win over Wikki Tourists, fighting back twice to secure all three points under the guidance of coach Finidi George.

Rangers now sit on 65 points after 37 matches, just one point ahead of Rivers United on 64, setting up a tense final day showdown that will determine the league champion.

Rangers will travel to Lagos to face Ikorodu City, while Rivers United host Katsina United in Port Harcourt, with both matches expected to decide the destination of the title.

In a significant development at the bottom of the table, Wikki Tourists were relegated to the Nigeria National League following their defeat to Rivers United.

Bayelsa United F.C. also suffered relegation after a 2–1 loss to Remo Stars in Ikenne, confirming a difficult end to their campaign.
